μετά δέ οὗτος δοξάζω ὁ βασιλεύς ἀρταξέρξης αμαν αμαδαθος βουγαῖος καί ὑψόω αὐτός καί πρωτοβαθρέω πᾶς ὁ φίλος αὐτός

AndafterthiskingArtaxerxeshighlyhonouredAman<b>son</b>ofAmadathes,theBugaean,andexaltedhim,andsethisseataboveallhisfriends.

καί πᾶς ὁ ἐν ὁ αὐλή προςκυνέω αὐτός οὕτως γάρ προςτάσσω ὁ βασιλεύς ποιέω ὁ δέ μαρδοχαῖος οὐ προςκυνέω αὐτός

Andallinthepalacedidhimobeisance,forsothekinghadgivenorderstodo:butMardochaeusdidnotdohimobeisance.

καί λαλέω ὁ ἐν ὁ αὐλή ὁ βασιλεύς ὁ μαρδοχαῖος μαρδοχαῖος τίς παραἀκούω ὁ ὑπό ὁ βασιλεύς λέγω

Andtheyintheking'spalacesaidtoMardochaeus,Mardochaeus,whydostthoutransgressthecommandsoftheking?

κατά ἕκαστος ἡμέρα λαλέω αὐτός καί οὐ ὑποἀκούω αὐτός καί ὑποδεικνύω ὁ αμαν μαρδοχαῖος ὁ ὁ βασιλεύς λόγος ἀντιτάσσω καί ὑποδεικνύω αὐτός ὁ μαρδοχαῖος ὅτι ἰουδαῖος εἰμί

<b>Thus</b>theyspokedailytohim,buthehearkenednotuntothem;sotheyrepresentedtoAmanthatMardochaeusresistedthecommandsoftheking:andMardochaeushadshewntothemthathewasaJew.

καί ἐπιγιγνώσκω αμαν ὅτι οὐ προςκυνέω αὐτός μαρδοχαῖος θυμόω σφόδρα

AndwhenAmanunderstoodthatMardochaeusdidnotobeisancetohim,hewasgreatlyenraged,

καί βουλεύω ἀπο ἀναἵζω πᾶς ὁ ὑπό ὁ ἀρταξέρξης βασιλεία ἰουδαῖος

andtookcounseltodestroyutterlyalltheJewswhowereundertheruleofArtaxerxes.

καί ποιέω ψήφισμα ἐν ἔτος δωδέκατος ὁ βασιλεία ἀρταξέρξης καί βάλλω κλῆρος ἡμέρα ἐκ ἡμέρα καί μήν ἐκ μήν ὥστε ἀποὀλλύω ἐν εἷς ἡμέρα ὁ γένος μαρδοχαῖος καί πίπτω ὁ κλῆρος εἰς ὁ οςτεσσαρεσκαιδέκατ ὁ μήν ὅς εἰμί αδαρ

AndhemadeadecreeinthetwelfthyearofthereignofArtaxerxes,andcastlotsdailyandmonthly,toslayinonedaytheraceofMardochaeus:andthelotfellonthefourteenth<b>day</b>ofthemonthwhichisAdar.

καί λαλέω πρός ὁ βασιλεύς ἀρταξέρξης λέγω ὑποἄρχω ἔθνος διασπείρω ἐν ὁ ἔθνος ἐν πᾶς ὁ βασιλεία σύ ὁ δέ νόμος αὐτός ἔξαλλος παρά πᾶς ὁ ἔθνος ὁ δέ νόμος ὁ βασιλεύς παραἀκούω καί οὐ συνφέρω ὁ βασιλεύς ἐάω αὐτός

AndhespoketokingArtaxerxes,saying,Thereisanationscatteredamongthenationsinallthykingdom,andtheirlawsdifferfrom<b>thoseof</b>allthe<b>other</b>nations;andtheydisobeythelawsoftheking;anditisnotexpedientforthekingtoletthemalone.

εἰ δοκέω ὁ βασιλεύς δογματίζω ἀποὀλλύω αὐτός καΐἐγώ διαγράφω εἰς ὁ γαζοφυλάκιον ὁ βασιλεύς ἀργύριον τάλαντον μύριοι

Ifitseemgoodtotheking,lethimmakeadecreetodestroythem:andIwillremitintotheking'streasurytenthousandtalentsofsilver.

καί περιαἱρέω ὁ βασιλεύς ὁ δακτύλιος δίδωμι εἰς χείρ ὁ αμαν σφραγίζω κατά ὁ γράφω κατά ὁ ἰουδαῖος

Andthekingtookoffhisring,andgaveitintothehandsofAman,tosealthedecreesagainsttheJews.

καί εἶπον ὁ βασιλεύς ὁ αμαν ὁ μέν ἀργύριον ἔχω ὁ δέ ἔθνος χράω ὡς βούλομαι

AndthekingsaidtoAman,Keepthesilver,andtreatthenationasthouwilt.

καί καλέω ὁ γραμματεύς ὁ βασιλεύς μήν πρῶτος ὁ τρισκαιδέκατος καί γράφω ὡς ἐπιτάσσω αμαν ὁ στρατηγός καί ὁ ἄρχων κατά πᾶς χώρα ἀπό ἰνδική ἕως ὁ αἰθιοπία ὁ ἑκατόν εἴκοσι ἑπτά χώρα ὁ τε ἄρχων ὁ ἔθνος κατά ὁ αὐτός λέξις διά ἀρταξέρξης ὁ βασιλεύς

Sotheking'srecorderswerecalledinthefirstmonth,onthethirteenth<b>day</b>,andtheywroteasAmancommandedtothecaptainsandgovernorsineveryprovince,fromIndiaeventoEthiopia,toahundredandtwenty-sevenprovinces;andtotherulersofthenationsaccordingtotheir<b>several</b>languages,inthenameofkingArtaxerxes.

καί ἀποστέλλω διά βιβλιαφόρος εἰς ὁ ἀρταξέρξης βασιλεία ἀπο ἀναἵζω ὁ γένος ὁ ἰουδαῖος ἐν ἡμέρα εἷς μήν δωδέκατος ὅς εἰμί αδαρ καί διαἁρπάζω ὁ ὑποἄρχω αὐτός

And<b>themessage</b>wassentbypoststhroughoutthekingdomofArtaxerxes,todestroyutterlytheraceoftheJewsonthefirstdayofthetwelfthmonth,whichisAdar,andtoplundertheirgoods.[Andthefollowingisthecopyoftheletter;ThegreatkingArtaxerxeswritesthustotherulersandinferiorgovernorsofahundredandtwenty-sevenprovinces,fromIndiaeventoEthiopia,whoholdauthorityunder<b>him</b>.Rulingovermanynationsandhavingobtaineddominionoverthewholeworld,Iwasminded(notelatedbytheconfidenceofpower,buteverconducting<b>myself</b>withgreatmoderationandgentleness)tomakethelivesof<b>my</b>subjectscontinuallytranquil,desiringbothtomaintainthekingdomquietandorderlyto<b>its</b>utmostlimits,andtorestorethepeacedesiredbyallmen.ButwhenIhadenquiredofmycounsellorshowthisshouldbebroughttopass.Aman,whoexcelsinsoundnessofjudgmentamongus,andhasbeenmanifestlywellinclinedwithoutwaveringandwithunshakenfidelity,andhadobtainedthesecondpostinthekingdom,informedusthatacertainill-disposedpeopleismixedupwithallthetribesthroughouttheworld,opposedintheirlawtoevery<b>other</b>nation,andcontinuallyneglectingthecommandsoftheking,sothattheunitedgovernmentblamelesslyadministeredbyusisnotquietlyestablished.Havingthenconceivedthatthisnation<b>aloneofallothers</b>iscontinuallysetinoppositiontoeveryman,introducingasachangeaforeigncodeoflaws,andinjuriouslyplottingtoaccomplishtheworstofevilsagainstourinterests,andagainstthehappyestablishmentofthemonarchy;wesignifiedtoyouintheletterwrittenbyAman,whoissetover<b>thepublic</b>affairsandisoursecondgovernor,todestroythemallutterlywiththeirwivesandchildrenbytheswordsoftheenemies,withoutpityingorsparingany,onthefourteenthdayofthetwelfthmonthAdar,ofthepresentyear;thatthepeopleaforetimeandnowill-disposed<b>tous</b>havingbeenviolentlyconsignedtodeathinoneday,mayhereaftersecuretouscontinuallyawellconstitutedandquiet<b>stateofaffairs.]</b>

ὁ δέ ἀντίγραφον ὁ ἐπιστολή ἐκτίθημι κατά χώρα καί προςτάσσω πᾶς ὁ ἔθνος ἕτοιμος εἰμί εἰς ὁ ἡμέρα οὗτος

Andthecopiesoftheletterswerepublishedineveryprovince;andanorderwasgiventoallthenationstobereadyagainstthatday.

σπεύδω δέ ὁ πρᾶγμα καί εἰς σουσαν ὁ δέ βασιλεύς καί αμαν κωθωνίζω ταράσσω δέ ὁ πόλις

Andthebusinesswashastened,and<b>that</b>atSusa:andthekingandAmanbegantodrink;butthecitywastroubled.
