καί ἐν αὐτός ὁ ἡμέρα ὁ βασιλεύς ἀρταξέρξης δωρέομαι εσθηρ ὅσος ὑποἄρχω αμαν ὁ διάβολος καί μαρδοχαῖος προςκαλέω ὑπό ὁ βασιλεύς ὑποδεικνύω γάρ εσθηρ ὅτι ἐνοἰκειόομαι αὐτός

λαμβάνω δέ ὁ βασιλεύς ὁ δακτύλιος ὅς ἀποαἱρέω αμαν καί δίδωμι αὐτός μαρδοχαῖος καί καταἵστημι εσθηρ μαρδοχαῖος ἐπί πᾶς ὁ αμαν

AndthekingtooktheringwhichhehadtakenawayfromAman,andgaveittoMardochaeus:andEstherappointedMardochaeusoverallthathadbeenAman's.

καί προςτίθημι λαλέω πρός ὁ βασιλεύς καί προςπίπτω πρός ὁ πούς αὐτός καί ἀξιόω ἀποαἱρέω ὁ αμαν κακία καί ὅσος ποιέω ὁ ἰουδαῖος

Andshespokeyetagaintotheking,andfellathisfeet,andbesought<b>him</b>todoawaythemischiefofAman,andallthathehaddoneagainsttheJews.

ἐκτείνω δέ ὁ βασιλεύς εσθηρ ὁ ῥάβδος ὁ χρυσοῦς ἐκἐγείρω δέ εσθηρ παραἵστημι ὁ βασιλεύς

ThenthekingstretchedouttoEstherthegoldensceptre:andEstherarosetostandneartheking.

καί εἶπον εσθηρ εἰ δοκέω σύ καί εὑρίσκω χάρις πέμπω ἀποστρέφω ὁ γράμμα ὁ ἀποστέλλω ὑπό αμαν ὁ γράφω ἀποὀλλύω ὁ ἰουδαῖος ὅς εἰμί ἐν ὁ βασιλεία σύ

AndEsthersaid,Ifitseemgoodtothee,andIhavefoundfavour<b>inthysight</b>,letanorderbesentthattheletterssentbyAmanmaybereversed,thatwerewrittenforthedestructionoftheJews,whoareinthykingdom.

πῶς γάρ δύναμαι ὁράω ὁ κάκωσις ὁ λαός ἐγώ καί πῶς δύναμαι σώζω ἐν ὁ ἀπώλεια ὁ πατρίς ἐγώ

ForhowshallIbeabletolookupontheafflictionofmypeople,andhowshallIbeabletosurvivethedestructionofmykindred?

καί εἶπον ὁ βασιλεύς πρός εσθηρ εἰ πᾶς ὁ ὑποἄρχω αμαν δίδωμι καί χαρίζομαι σύ καί αὐτός κρεμάζω ἐπί ξύλον ὅτι ὁ χείρ ἐπιφέρω ὁ ἰουδαῖος τίς ἔτι ἐπιζητέω

AndthekingsaidtoEsther,IfIhavegivenandfreelygrantedtheeallthatwasAman's,andhangedhimonagallows,becausehelaidhishandsupontheJews,whatdostthouyetfurtherseek?

γράφω καί σύ ἐκ ὁ ὄνομα ἐγώ ὡς δοκέω σύ καί σφραγίζω ὁ δακτύλιος ἐγώ ὅσος γάρ γράφω ὁ βασιλεύς ἐπιτάσσω καί σφραγίζω ὁ δακτύλιος ἐγώ οὐ εἰμί αὐτός ἀντιεἶπον

Writeyealsoinmyname,asitseemsgoodtoyou,andseal<b>it</b>withmyring:forwhatever<b>orders</b>arewrittenatthecommandoftheking,andsealedwithmyring,itisnotlawfultogainsaythem.

καλέω δέ ὁ γραμματεύς ἐν ὁ πρῶτος μήν ὅς εἰμί νισα τρίτος καί εἰκάς ὁ αὐτός ἔτος καί γράφω ὁ ἰουδαῖος ὅσος ἐντέλλω ὁ οἰκονόμος καί ὁ ἄρχων ὁ σατράπης ἀπό ὁ ἰνδική ἕως ὁ αἰθιοπία ἑκατόν εἴκοσι ἑπτά σατραπεία κατά χώρα καί χώρα κατά ὁ ἑαυτοῦ λέξις

Sothescribeswerecalledinthefirst-month,whichisNisan,onthethreeandtwentiethdayofthesameyear;and<b>orders</b>werewrittentotheJews,whatever<b>thekinghad</b>commandedtothelocalgovernorsandchiefsofthesatraps,fromIndiaeventoEthiopia,ahundredandtwenty-sevensatraps,accordingtotheseveralprovinces,accordingtotheirdialects.

Andtheywerewrittenbyorderoftheking,andsealedwithhisring,andtheysentthelettersbytheposts:

ὡς ἐπιτάσσω αὐτός χράομαι ὁ νόμος αὐτός ἐν πᾶς πόλις βοηθέω τε ἑαυτοῦ καί χράομαι ὁ ἀντίδικος αὐτός καί ὁ ἀντικεῖμαι αὐτός ὡς βούλομαι

ὁ δέ ἀντίγραφον ἐκτίθημι ὀφθαλμοφανῶς ἐν πᾶς ὁ βασιλεία ἕτοιμος τε εἰμί πᾶς ὁ ἰουδαῖος εἰς οὗτος ὁ ἡμέρα πολεμέω αὐτός ὁ ὑπεναντίος

Andletthecopiesbepostedinconspicuousplacesthroughoutthekingdom,andletalltheJewsbereadyagainstthisday,tofightagainsttheirenemies.Andthefollowingisthecopyoftheletteroftheorders.[ThegreatkingArtaxerxessendsgreetingstotherulersofprovinces<b>in</b>ahundredandtwenty-sevensatrapies,fromIndiatoEthiopia,eventothosewhoarefaithfultoourinterests.Manywhohavebeenfrequentlyhonoredbythemostabundantkindnessoftheirbenefactorshaveconceivedambitiousdesigns,andnotonlyendeavourtohurtoursubjects,butmoreover,notbeingabletobearprosperity,theyalsoendeavourtoplotagainsttheirownbenefactors.Andtheynotonlywouldutterlyabolishgratitudefromamongmen,butalso,elatedbytheboastingsofmenwhoarestrangerstoallthatisgood,theysupposedthattheyshallescapethesin-hatingvengeanceoftheever-seeingGod.Andoftentimes<b>evil</b>exhortationhasmadepartakersoftheguiltofsheddinginnocentblood,andhasinvolvedinirremediablecalamities,manyofthosewhohadbeenappointedtoofficesofauthority,whohadbeenentrustedwiththemanagementoftheirfriends'affairs;while<b>men</b>,bythefalsesophistryofanevildisposition,havedeceivedthesimplecandouroftherulingpowers.Anditispossibletosee<b>this</b>,notsomuchfrommoreancienttraditionaryaccounts,asitisimmediatelyinyourpower<b>toseeit</b>byexaminingwhatthingshavebeenwickedlyperpetratedbythebasenessofmenunworthilyholdingpower.And<b>itisright</b>totakeheedwithregardtothefuture,thatwemaymaintainthegovernmentinundisturbedpeaceforallmen,adopting<b>needful</b>changes,andeverjudgingthosecaseswhichcomeunderournotice,withtrulyequitabledecision.ForwhereasAman,aMacedonian,thesonofAmadathes,inrealityanalienfromthebloodofthePersians,anddifferingwidelyfromourmildcourseofgovernment,havingbeenhospitableentertainedbyus,obtainedsolargeashareofouruniversalkindness,astobecalledourfather,andtocontinuethepersonnexttotheroyalthrone,reverencedofall;<b>hehowever</b>,overcomebythepride<b>ofhisstation</b>,endeavoredtodepriveusofourdominion,andourlife:havingbyvariousandsubtleartificesdemandedfordestructionbothMardochaeusourdelivererandperpetualbenefactor,andEsthertheblamelessconsortof<b>our</b>kingdom,withtheirwholenation.Forbythesemethodshethought,havingsurprisedusinadefencelessstate,totransferthedominionofthePersianstotheMacedonians.ButwefindthattheJews,whohavebeenconsignedtodestructionbythemostabominableofmen,arenotmalefactors,butlivingaccordingtothejustestlaws,andbeingthesonsofthelivingGod,themosthighandmighty,whomaintainsthekingdom.tousaswellastoourforefathers,inthemostexcellentorder.YewillthereforedowellinrefusingtoobeythelettersentbyAmanthesonofAmadathes,becausehethathasdonethesethings,hasbeenhangedwithhiswholefamilyatthegatesofSusa,AlmightyGodhavingswiftlyreturnedtohimaworthyrecompence,<b>Weenjoinyou</b>then,havingopenlypublishedacopyofthisletterineveryplace,togivetheJewspermissiontousetheirownlawfulcustoms,andtostrengthenthem,thatonthethirteenthofthetwelfthmonthAdar,ontheself-sameday,theymaydefendthemselvesagainstthosewhoattacktheminatimeofaffliction.Forintheplaceofthedestructionofthechosenrace,AlmightyGodhasgrantedthemthis<b>timeof</b>gladness.Doyethereforealso,amongyour<b>notable</b>feasts,keepadistinctdaywithallfestivity,thatbothnowandhereafteritmaybeadayofdeliverancetousandwhoarewelldisposedtowardthePersians,buttothosethatplottedagainstusamemorialofdestruction.Andeverycityandprovincecollectively,whichshallnotdoaccordingly,shallbeconsumedwithvengeancebyspearandfire:itshallbemadenotonlyinaccessibletomen,butmosthatefultowildbeastsandbirdsforever.]AndletthecopiesbepostedinconspicuousplacesthroughoutthekingdomandletalltheJewsbereadyagainstthisday,tofightagainsttheirenemies.

ὁ μέν οὖν ἱππεύς ἐκἔρχομαι σπεύδω ὁ ὑπό ὁ βασιλεύς λέγω ἐπιτελέω ἐκτίθημι δέ ὁ πρόσταγμα καί ἐν σουσά

ὁ δέ μαρδοχαῖος ἐκἔρχομαι στολίζω ὁ βασιλικός στολή καί στέφανος ἔχω χρυσοῦς καί διάδημα βύσσινος πορφύρεος ὁράω δέ ὁ ἐν σουσά χαίρω

AndMardochaeuswentforthrobedintheroyalapparel,andwearingagoldencrown,andadiademoffinepurplelinen:andthepeopleinSusasaw<b>it</b>andrejoiced.

ὁ δέ ἰουδαῖος γίγνομαι φῶς καί εὐφροσύνη

κατά πόλις καί χώρα οὗ ἄν ἐκτίθημι ὁ πρόσταγμα οὗ ἄν ἐκτίθημι ὁ ἔκθεμα χαρά καί εὐφροσύνη ὁ ἰουδαῖος κώθων καί εὐφροσύνη καί πολύς ὁ ἔθνος περιτέμνω καί ἰουδαίζω διά ὁ φόβος ὁ ἰουδαῖος

ineverycityandprovincewherevertheordinancewaspublished:wherevertheproclamationtookplace,theJewshadjoyandgladness,feastingandmirth:andmanyoftheGentileswerecircumcised,andbecameJews,forfearoftheJews.
